The Twelve Tourist Wonders of the Solar System: Brochure Project
Objective: Communicate what you have learned about the solar system and its amazing features.

Listed below are 12 wonders of the solar system. Choose 6 "wonders" and design a travel brochure. Your goal is to attract space travelers to each destination. Consider the highlights of each: Why might a person go there? For beauty? Adventure? What might you observe there? What is the temperature? How long would it take to travel to this destination, from Earth? What planets are nearby?

Be descriptive and provide some general information about each destination. Also include at least 1 image per "wonder".

All plaques will be displayed to the class, as part of a “Planet Scavenger Hunt” assignment done on a later date.

Your plaque should include the following details (clearly outlined):

  1. What is this planet’s distance (in AU) from sun?
  2. What is this planet’s position in line from sun?
  3. What is rotation time (length of a day)?
  4. What is revolution time (length of year)?
  5. What is the composition of the atmosphere?
  6. Is it a terrestrial or gaseous planet?
  7. Does it have rings and/or moons? If so, how many?
  8. What makes this planet unique?
